Busiek’s back to form with this one. The Spacemen are pretty sweet villains, and we get lots of great JJJ character development. This is really a Jameson story, and we get to see him going full force railing against Spider-Man, but also interacting with his son and, ultimately, second-guessing himself when Spider-Man reveals that the Spacemen are criminals.
I’m really digging this series, Busiek has a great knack for exploring the nooks and crannies hidden away in the early Amazing Spider-Man issues. His attention to detail is great too, making sure everything he does fits well into the existing continuity. Here, for example, Peter’s running around without his glasses, because Flash broke them in ASM #8.
Excellent book, highly recommended.
