Strange Tales Annual 002On the Trail of the Amazing Spider-Man!
Written by: Stan Lee
Drawn by: Jack Kirby
Inking: Steve Ditko
Lettering: Art Simek
Originally published: July 1963

Spider-Man and the Human Torch team up to save Spidey’s reputation after he’s been framed for a robbery. After a newly-discovered Da Vinci painting, The Fox (real name: Reynard Slinker = awesome) leaves some artificial webbing at the scene to throw the police off his scent. It works, and soon the whole town is after Spider-Man. Spidey turns to the Torch for help and, after trying to kick the crap out of each other for a bit, they go to solve the crime together.

This was pretty fun. It wasn’t an amazing story by any stretch, but the back-and-forth between Spider-Man and the Torch was pretty fun (if incredibly cheesy most of the time).
