This is almost identical to Amazing Fantasy 15, except it’s presented with extra narration from Peter Parker in the form of a school science paper that he’s writing about his own transformation. This version includes some interesting differences, especially in the look of the characters. The first kid that speaks is now wearing an Elton John shirt, and Flash wears a super looking workout ensemble. The most interesting changes are in the dialogue:

Say, gang, we need one more guy for the dance! How about Peter Parker, over there?
Hey, guys– we need another kid for the dance. What about Parker over there?

Peter Parker? He’s Midtown High’s only professional wallflower!
Get serious. Peter Parker is Midtown High’s only professional wallflower.

Are you kiddin’? That bookwork wouldn’t know a cha-cha from a waltz! (ooh burn)
Sad, but true. You should see him in gym– the guy must’ve been born with two left feet. Talk about a klutz.

Other than being vaguely interesting, this doesn’t have that much to add. The web shooters become “just a little something I whipped up in my spare time during chem class.” The other (frankly weird) thing it added was some kind of premonition / anxiety Peter had when things were going well with his career before Ben’s death, that something bad was going to happen. This kinda pisses me off, because it takes away from the characterization of Peter at the post-powers pre-murder stage. He’s supposed to be cocky and confident; adding this anxiety takes away from that. It was a weird and unnecessary change.

Overall this story was an OK idea, but a kinda lame execution.
